Congratulations to OMS Women of Excellence: Bethany Dowell, Angel Chamberlin, and Amanda Wood

The 8th annual Women of Excellence in Metal Forming and Fabricating Award is a recognition given by the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), MetalForming magazine, and the Women in Manufacturing Association (WiM) to employees who have shown outstanding performance and leadership in our industry.

O’Neal Manufacturing Services is proud to have three outstanding employees recognized this year as Women of Excellence. Each demonstrates merit in meeting their workplace responsibilities, dedication to their company and the industry, and innovation and creativity in their work. They are a testament to their increasing role and representation in manufacturing, which is vital for the growth and sustainability of the industry.

Bethany Dowell has seamlessly navigated various roles at our Indianapolis fabrication plant. Starting from the shop floor, Bethany progressed through inventory and production and is now the Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager. Always mindful of her fellow employee’s tasks, she even learned to weld. Bethany’s commitment to self-improvement is evident, having earned her associate’s and bachelor’s degrees, and ultimately, her MBA. Throughout her journey, she has demonstrated readiness to take on additional responsibilities, showcasing her ability to build morale and form meaningful relationships with her peers.

Angel Chamberlin joined the OMS Cedar Falls team in 2013. Her meticulous attention to detail, organizational skills, and a focused approach to success have served OMS well. With previous experience in the metal industry, she quickly progressed through roles of inside sales coordinator, account manager, and production control manager. Recently promoted to Assistant General Manager, Angel thoughtfully leverages innovative ideas to enhance communication and foster continuous improvement across all departments of her thriving fabrication team.

Amanda Wood has been on a steady career climb since joining the company as a Product Specialist in 2014. Within three years at our Birmingham, AL headquarters, she moved into the supply chain department. Her next promotion in 2019 took her to Greensboro, NC to assume the role of Materials Manager. In 2021, Amanda stepped into the role of Assistant General Manager. Recognized for her accountability, management, and communication skills, Amanda was most recently promoted to General Manager for the Greensboro facility in June of this year.  As the first female General Manager in the company, her talents and contributions have been duly recognized throughout our organization.

The Women of Excellence award also aims to celebrate the diversity and talent of the manufacturing workforce and to inspire others to pursue careers in this industry. Award recipients are selected from a pool of nominations submitted by their peers, colleagues, or employers, based on criteria such as:

  • Excellence in meeting workplace responsibilities
  • Dedication to their company and the industry
  • Innovation and creativity in their work
  • Leadership and mentorship skills
  • Community involvement and volunteerism
  • Professional development and education

The Women of Excellence award is one of the ways that PMA, MetalForming, and WiM support and promote women in manufacturing, and encourage the engagement of women who want to share perspectives, gain cutting-edge manufacturing information, improve leadership and communication skills, participate in sponsoring programs, and network with peers.

We celebrate the women of O’Neal Manufacturing Services and thank them for their unwavering service. They continue to inspire us with their performance and dedication, and we hope they will encourage others to pursue careers in this industry.
