Appointment of New General Manager for O’Neal Manufacturing Services – Louisville, KY

Birmingham, AL. (December 10, 2018) – O’Neal Manufacturing Services (OMS) is pleased to announce the promotion of James Oliveira to the position of General Manager of the O’Neal Manufacturing Services location in Louisville, KY.

Oliveira started his career as an intern with O’Neal Steel in 2007, and he has held several positions of increasing responsibility since joining the corporation. Oliveira’s most recent position was as the OMS Director of Sales and Marketing. He led the development and creation of the new OMS website and the OMS online marketing strategies. Oliveira was instrumental in finding and developing several large new customers in 2017 and 2018. James has a great understanding of our people, systems, and processes. His creativity, enthusiasm, knowledge, and energy will serve him well in Louisville.

Oliveira is a native of Springville, Alabama and received his B.S. in Industrial Distribution from the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB). He is currently pursuing an MBA from UAB. James, his wife Brianna, and their 1 year old son Paxton will be relocating to Louisville from Springville in 2019.

O’Neal Industries Makes Transformative Gift to UAB Comprehensive Center

BIRMINGHAM, AL. (December 5, 2018) — O’Neal Industries (ONI) and its shareholders are pleased to announce that they have made a commitment of $30 million to name the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Comprehensive Cancer Center. This gift will enable the Cancer Center to impact the lives of more patients and families than ever through leading-edge research, patient care, education and prevention, and outreach to the region’s most underserved communities. It will strengthen clinical operations, accelerate research and translation of discoveries into clinical trials, enhance recruiting efforts, increase the breadth and depth of UAB programs, and dramatically advance UAB’s mission to eliminate cancer as a major public health problem, locally and globally.

“The O’Neal family has built a legacy in Birmingham, first in the city’s steel industry and now in the city’s future as a biomedical and technology hub,” said Ray L. Watts, M.D., president of UAB. “UAB’s National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center is among the pre-eminent cancer centers in the world, and we are proud and grateful that our cancer center will bear the O’Neal name.”

The center will be renamed the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB after it has been formally accepted by The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees at its February meeting.

Appointment of New General Manager for O’Neal Manufacturing Services – Greensboro, NC

Birmingham, AL. (April 16, 2018) – O’Neal Manufacturing Services (OMS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Moon as General Manager of OMS facility in Greensboro, NC, effective immediately.

Moon started his career with O’Neal Steel in 2012 as the Senior Human Resource Business Partner and was promoted to OMS Human Resources (HR) Manager in January 2016 then was moved to OMS HR Director in July that same year.

He took on the role and responsibilities of Iowa Laser Technology’s (ILT) Interim General Manager in January 2017 and was named General Manager in March 2017. Under Matt’s leadership, ILT and Trumpf together brought the first Trumpf Fiber 10K laser to the U.S. and also a new Trumpf 8K laser to ILT.

“We are confident that Matt’s leadership skills and knowledge of the industry will be of great benefit to the Greensboro operation.” Said Kent Brown, OMS president and chief executive officer (CEO).

Moon is a native of Alabama and received his B.A. from The University of Alabama in Commercial Marketing. He and his wife ,Jamie, have two girls: Della (9) and Harper (4)

Appointment of New General Manager for Iowa Laser Technology – Cedar Falls, IA

Birmingham, AL. (April 16, 2018) – O’Neal Manufacturing Services (OMS) is pleased to announce the promotion of Jim Mattson to General Manager of Iowa Laser Technology (ILT), a division of OMS in Cedar Falls. Iowa Laser, a part of O’Neal Manufacturing Services, presents a multi-disciplinary manufacturing facility, offering automated sheet/plate laser cutting, laser tube cutting, laser welding, CNC forming, conventional and robotic welding, CNC machining, and complete manufacturing engineering services.

Mattson came to ILT in 1994 after actively serving eight years with the U.S. Air Force. He began his manufacturing career in the maintenance department and worked in multiple divisions at ILT with Production Manager being his most current position. Mattson’s leadership skills were quickly recognized.

“From the first day I got here, Jim’s leadership and knowledge were very obvious to me. He has the background and the understanding of what it takes to make this facility successful, that’s what makes him an obvious choice to proceed me as the General Manager here at Iowa.” As per former Cedar Falls General Manager, Matt Moon.

O’Neal Manufacturing Services Moves to New Houston Facility

HOUSTON, TX. (February 6, 2018) — O’Neal Manufacturing Services (OMS), a supplier of fabricated metal components and welded assemblies serving original equipment manufacturers, has moved its operations to a new facility in the northern part of Houston.

“We are excited to continue our long tradition of providing quality fabricated products to Houston and surrounding markets. Our new location is more modern, better sized for our operation, and adds in house painting capability to our business.  We look forward to continuing a strong manufacturing presence in Houston for years to come,” said Kent Brown, President & CEO, O’Neal Manufacturing Services. OMS has been in Houston since 1988.

The Henry Road facility, which was built in 2013, offered OMS the opportunity to layout the operation for optimal efficiency. The 122,000-square foot facility is climate controlled, has better lighting, and a paint booth, which was not available at the former location. OMS in Houston employees 50 people with opportunity for growth.

ONI Names Kent Brown President and CEO of O’Neal Manufacturing Services

BIRMINGHAM, AL. (October 9, 2017) — O’Neal Industries (ONI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kent Brown as president and CEO of O’Neal Manufacturing Services (OMS), a supplier of fabricated metal components and welded assemblies serving original equipment manufacturers and O’Neal Industries (ONI) affiliate, effective October 2, 2017.

The current OMS president and CEO, Larry Whitehead, will remain until December 31, ensuring a smooth transition.

Brown came to OMS from a large fabricator, C&B Pipe Fabrication, where he was the Director of Operations.  Prior to that, Kent was Vice President and General Manager of McWane Corporation where he spent 17 years in roles of diverse and increasing responsibilities. A native of Pittsburgh, Kent holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from West Virginia University, as well as an MBA from Robert Morris University.

“Kent’s broad experience in the industry, coupled with his enthusiasm for the business, will enable him to lead OMS successfully in the future,” said Holman Head, ONI president and chief operating officer (COO).  “The ONI Leadership Team has the utmost confidence in his ability to build on the solid foundation established by Larry Whitehead.”
